About Mandy

Strength has shaped every chapter of my life.

I'm Mandy Dorego, the founder of Fitness Evolution and a personal trainer, sports nutritionist, menopause coaching specialist, and youth training specialist.

For more than 25 years, I have helped women and youth athletes build strength, confidence, and resilience through smart training, practical nutrition, and coaching that extends far beyond the gym.

Fitness has never been just a career for me. It has been a constant throughout my life — something that helped me find confidence during difficult seasons, challenged me to grow, and eventually gave me the opportunity to help other women and girls recognize their own strength.

Where it started

A women's-only gym at sixteen.

My own fitness journey began when I was 16 years old. At a time when I needed somewhere to feel grounded, I found a women's-only gym. It became more than a place to exercise — it gave me structure, confidence, and a sense of control over my life.

At 19, I studied Fitness and Lifestyle Management and began working in the fitness industry. Over the years I have coached in large gyms, trained for endurance events, completed triathlons and marathons, competed in more than ten bodybuilding competitions, and earned my Masters Pro card.

I have experienced many sides of fitness: performance, competition, body composition, motherhood, recovery, hormonal changes, and learning how to train differently as the body and life evolve. That lived experience shapes the way I coach today.

The beginning

How Fitness Evolution started.

After years working in health and fitness, I knew I wanted to create something different. I wanted a space where women could learn how to strength train without feeling intimidated, overlooked, or out of place. I wanted girls to develop athletic foundations while also learning confidence, discipline, and trust in their bodies.

Fitness Evolution began inside my Brooklin home studio and grew organically through relationships, referrals, and a strong local community. Women came to become stronger and healthier. Youth athletes came to improve their movement, performance, and confidence. Over time, the studio became much more than a gym — it became a place where women and girls felt supported, challenged, and genuinely known.

How I coach

Education. Experience. Simplicity.

I believe strength training should be purposeful. Nutrition should be practical. Programs should be progressive rather than random. Most importantly, coaching should recognize the whole person — not just what happens during one session.

Training + Fuel + Recovery + Consistency + Time

Strength training provides the stimulus, but everything else influences the result. We look beyond the workout — at nutrition, protein, sleep, stress, recovery, daily movement, confidence, and the realities of your life.

You are not simply paying for 50 minutes in the gym. You are receiving guidance that helps you make better decisions throughout the other 167 hours of your week. My goal is not to make people dependent on me — it is to teach them how to understand their bodies, move well, fuel themselves properly, and feel confident in what they are capable of doing.

Who I work with

Women in every season. Girls becoming athletes.

I specialize in coaching women, particularly through the changes that can occur during their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond. Many are navigating perimenopause or menopause, changes in body composition, declining strength, busy careers, motherhood, injuries, or simply the realization that what worked ten years ago no longer works the same way.

I help them focus on what matters most: building and maintaining muscle, supporting bone health, eating enough protein, improving movement, and creating habits they can realistically sustain.

I also work closely with female youth athletes. Through strength training, plyometrics, movement preparation, sports nutrition, and age-appropriate coaching, I help young athletes build the physical foundation required for sport while also developing resilience, discipline, and confidence.

Whether I am coaching a woman entering a new stage of life or a young athlete beginning hers, the purpose is the same: to build strength that carries into life.

Beyond the gym

Wife. Mom. Running-family sideline regular.

I am also a wife, a mother, and the proud mom of two competitive runners. Our family life is often built around practices, races, travel, early mornings, fueling bags, recovery, and cheering from the sidelines.

Being both a mother and a coach has given me a deeper understanding of the pressures young athletes and their families experience. Sport can teach young people lessons that last far beyond a season — discipline, resilience, patience, responsibility, and the courage to keep showing up.

When I am not coaching, you will usually find me training, walking, supporting my children at a race, spending time with my family, or surrounded by our Boston Terriers.

"My greatest role will always be being a mom."

A new chapter

Brooklin roots. Markham next. Coaching continues.

After years of welcoming women and youth athletes into my Brooklin home studio, my family and I are moving — and Fitness Evolution is moving with us.

While the new Markham studio is being created, coaching will continue through private in-home training, condo gym sessions, outdoor youth athlete training, online programming, and nutrition support.

The location may be changing, but the purpose is not. This is not the end of Fitness Evolution. It is the next evolution.
